Neuquén River starts quite timidly, and then increases its flow until it finally converges with Limay River, in the east boundary of the province. Although fishing spots in this basin are not as famous as the ones in the south, many anglers choose them because they offer strong catch probabilities.

In the south of Neuquén province, in Limay River basin, you can visit the worldly renowned Chimehuín River mouth (recently declared a provincial protected area), near Junín de los Andes; Correntoso River mouth, with its outlet in Nahuel Huapi lake; and Limay River mouth. These sites are well-known for the quality and amount of trout that can be caught there. Other important fishing sites that belong to this basin are Traful, Collón Curá, Malleo, Caleufú, Aluminé, Quilquihué and Quillén rivers.

The most wanted species are rainbow trout, fontinalis trout and brown trout, among others. The native species like perch and Patagonian silverside are also much coveted fish.

San Martín de los Andes, Junín de los Andes, Villa La Angostura, Villa Traful, Aluminé, Villa Pehuenia, Caviahue – Copahue, Piedra del Águila, Chos Malal, Neuquén Capital City and Villa El Chocón offer world class services to all the anglers that approach their rivers and lakes to practise this activity, which is gaining in popularity every year.
